Hi everyone. Sunday last got to test some of the new tyres. Tried Black on outside front and rear with magenta on inside rear with approx 6mm stagger. Installed in maestro07 with sirio .21 had great balance and wear features. Leicester track have an amazing amount of grip considering how cold it was

Wow Trev getting out to brave the cold!
Now thats interesting a black on the outside rear. Thats a great way of keeping the chassis neutral and getting rid of a push. Great job getting out and trying stuff!
I just got my new Maestro07.... cant wait to get it built, it looks great Trev!
I will be taking pictures of the chassis soon and posting them on the Rocket Chassis page with contact info for Trev so stay tuned!

Hi There everyone, i have just started racing again after a 15 year break, i raced last season and intend to race more this year. The main difference for me is the change in power from the engines now available, this creates a problem with tyre choice. I have found it very difficult to get this right, back in the day it was 2402's on the back and mardave hards on the front, but now with the added power the tyres are far more critical and they are the difference between 44 laps and 50+. as 15 years ago nobody seams to want to share the secrets! of tyre choice, i think this is a shame because when you have cars that are on a level par , the racing is far more exciting and more importantly would help novice drivers handle cars which are far to powerfull when not set up right, i have purchased some of the Rocket Tyres from Trev and look forward to trying them and hope they last a lot longer than some which are currently used, as anybody any views, Scott G 67

Hey Scott glad to have you onboard! Thanks for trying the tyres and I wish you the best of luck with them. Im sure Trev will take care of giving you setups, and which compounds to run on which corner of the car. We have found a really solid baseline that works on most any track, and just needs to be dialed in with the amount of stagger you run. If you need any help at all, please feel free to PM or email me anytime.
You are so correct about how much difference tyres make. I am a firm believer, as are most guys I come across these days, that anyone that is struggling with setup is more in the way on the track, than if he is given some help to sort it out. Then it becomes up to the driver on who is better. I find a better driver can drive a looser car, and thus be faster, where as a novice needs a car that pushes a bit in order for it to feel comfortable. Everyone dials there cars in differently, but I am a firm believer in using the size of the left front tyre to dial in how you want the car to turn in, and the rear stagger to dial in how you want the car to exit the turn. Like I say everyone does it differently, but that works for me. If you run a black outside front, a pearl outside rear, and 2 magentas on the inside, it will get you close. Then you can dial it in with size from there.
You are right, the power available these days is just awesome, yet so much harder to get to the ground. That makes chassis setup just that more critical. Again please feel free to email me to chat, or keep talking on here. Its great to have you on!

Hi all its been awhile since I've posted its been hectic the last few months! tyre choice can be critical but i don't think that its the main problem if you run a jap 40 and 3 golds as a start then adjust the rear dampener nuts to suit, the front out side spring should be firm the inside soft, the rear springs set at 25 inside 27 outside (measured from the outside of the spring), i always run my inside rear dampener tight so the wheel doesn't come down on its own but that makes the can turn easily which not all can drive. tyre size/stagger seems to confuse allot of people yes the more stagger will turn the car faster into the corner but beware this is dangerous when racing some one else! people say to me "why do you run your tyres so big!" well the bigger they are for starters helps with dampening, secondly when pushing through the corner the tyre rolls thus giving a wider footprint similar to f1. If you use lower profile then the tyres just drift like touring car. The main thing nowadays is engines i hear it all the time "its to slow it needs more power" b@~$*s!! YOUR SPEED ON A STOCK CAR IS IN THE CORNER!!. It was proved in Holland at Venray in 2005 worlds, power is nothing without control.

Totally agree, stock car racing is won in the corners, because all in all most people are the same speed down the straights. hope the rocket tyres work, as ime fed up of ripping the golds!, the y work well but don't last long enough. Tried a wing at skegness and couldn't believe the difference, handles much better into the corners and allows the power to be applied quicker out the corners, really enjoy racing, its great fun and even better when your cars going well!

it would appaer that at the present time the pearl is the tyre of choice for outside rear with magenta on the inside. When I sort some camber issues the black will be agod hard wearing outside front.

Sounds good Trev. I know you and Stu have been giving these Tyres a good workout so far this season. Keep up the reports when you can, it will sure help anyone who is just getting started with trying these out.
