Take the Engine Poll...... Im curious to know what is most popular out there. I think the OPS will probably win hands down, but it could be interesting. Thanks!

Yeah.. still going strong those oldies.... I also collected lots of spares, able to build "new" SE types.

I know alot of you guys still have them. As long as Jody keeps winning major races with one, they will never go away!
Still I think there are other engines with the right exhaust system, that can perform equally as well or better. Unfortunately something else needs to win in order for it to become popular..... isnt that the way with everything!

Sorry guys that is a big problem. As long as people run obsolete 1970s engine other sections will not treat us seriously. At the moment we are trying the Cheap cost £74 Picco base engine no need to tune turns great laps. A bit cheap well the £130 Picco P3 new series engine appears to be a winner won 2 of the last 3 meetings with ease. The RB C5 Sirio 4 port buggy is a great super smooth engine that loves running in the rain.

Any rear exhaust 3 to 5 port engine, with a 7mm or 8mm carb would do fine in one of these cars.
I think that people will get into the sport regardless of what engines are being run, they will just like the cars and the type of racing. Personally I think there are oval racers, and there are circut racers, and over here seldom do the two cross. I am one of the very few that will race anything with wheels. Now the UK seems to have alot more circut racing than oval racing. A true die hard circut racer would not give a Stock Car the time of day just because of the fact it goes in circles. They have no idea what it takes to make these go, and they will throw the lack of technology line at you, or think its too easy to "just go in circles" I mean what fun could that be ..... right?
Bottom line is I agree that more guys should be looking at rear exhaust engines, and running stuff that is readily available, than stuff they have to scrounge for, or make, or repair, etc.... but if we want respect from other types of racers, then you guys need to do what I am doing over here.... each club build a car that one active member maintains and sets up, and invite racers from other divisions to come be a guest driver. If you have one different person try it at each meeting, and see what it take to run one, you would have lots more people thinking about Stock Cars.
OK back to engine talk.... sorry for the distraction, I just felt compelled to blab.
If I were a new racer, I would be thinking rear exhaust no matter what, because that is all I could get.

It's not always about money or what you can get given to promote, enigines can be what you can afford..
i have 12 OPS, 8 are side exit, all ready for the winter strip down, pinch and rebuild.. but i and several other lads seem to do pretty well on the RB family of engines, some are trying the GO engines, it's all about price, if we all had £300/$600 to waste then we would or if the local hobby shop gave us an engine we'd use it,
i see some pretty cheap engines made by SH on fleabay around $70 and with shipping to UK makes them less than £50 but lacking in back plates and being pull start makes you avoid, but these could be a pretty cheap alternative too..

Although ive run an OPS most of the year i have been trying the 3 and 5 port sts engines which are very sensibly priced results so far are not bad but are very good with the 3 port in the hotrod

OPS side exhaust I'm driving it this whole year and it's going very well, and don't forget the new world champion model stockcars 1/8 Brian Weijers is also driving it so it's fast .
